Bargain Boy (Island Boy Parody)
When the TikTok video “Island Boy” was trending, car dealership Bob’s Bargain Center decided to ride the wave with this parody. Somehow, both gentlemen were able to keep straight faces for the entirety of the first take and we only took a second as a safety.
After numerous pipe cleaners, glow sticks, and hair ties, I think it’s safe to say that it’s a good thing none of us became professional hair stylists!
Dealership Value Proposition Animation
When revamping the websites for several car dealerships, I wanted to add more motion than just the hero slideshow cycling through its images.
Initially a static graphic for websites, social media, and vehicle profiles, this video only needed a few basic animations to become alive. Ideally, it would make a great GIF, but the third-party proprietary website builder could only handle MP4s.
Car Buying Tips with Bobby
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the workforce, a shortage of materials and labor halted production, allowing very few new vehicles to come off the assembly line. That in turn caused more people to buy or hold onto their used vehicles and shot up the price of both.
One dealership wanted to start a vlog, with the price inflation being discussed during the first episode. He likened it to the supply and demand of the Tickle Me Elmo craze of the 1990’s.
Exposing Deep Fakes with Abraham Lincoln Animation
“Don’t believe everything you read on the internet.” -Abraham Lincoln
With my interest in video editing, I thought it would be interesting to research deep fakes and how to identify them. After realizing how realistic some looked, I recalled the meme that had been around for years featuring former president Abraham Lincoln, and the idea for this creation was born. I had a lot of fun playing around with masks and seeing how far I could push After Effects. I soon found out the only constraint I had was the processing power of my laptop…
Adobe CC x Terminator Create Your Fate Challenge
In the fall of 2019, Adobe and Paramount Pictures partnered up to launch a creative challenge. They invited video editors from around the country to create unique trailers for Terminator: Dark Fate. Provided asset kits contained final footage, ADRs, sound effects, and film score snippets.
With even the most amateur of editors having the chance to work with professionally-mastered assets, this marketing campaign was a clever source of user-generated content and unique exposure.
Extreme Power Promo
Extreme Power is a motivational feats-of-strength team comprised of bodybuilders and former professional athletes. They travel to schools, churches, and community centers to speak with today’s youth and demonstrate their raw power. Their goal is to instill that true strength comes from within and discuss overcoming whichever negative pressures/influences run rampant in that particular community.
This particular video showcases footage throughout the course of several years, with only the most recent (in front of the black curtain) being mine, plus the editing.
The Silver Surfer & Susan - You Found Me
Like most artists, my profession used to just be a hobby. Back in the early days of YouTube, I was one of the vidders arranging short clips overlayed by music to tell a story. As shown in this video, the practice of “vidding” didn’t have to follow the original script of the source material or even feature the same relationships. It was all about creating a new narrative or even crossing over characters from different sources.
Why show this type of work in my portfolio? I consider it an ode to my roots, so to speak. Not to mention, the composition and storytelling are still up to par with today’s standards.
